Description
Essays, interviews and documents on politics, literature and the arts in Ukraine at the moment the Soviet order began to give way. The volume grew out of Glasnost in Soviet Ukraine, a symposium held at York University from January 28 to February 1, 1989, which the book describes as the first international and interdisciplinary conference on the subject. Bahry was one of its four organizers.
Contributors include Bohdan Krawchenko, David R. Marples, George G. Grabowicz, Mykola Zhulynsky, Bohdan Rubchak, Taras Kuzio and Les Taniuk. Bahry’s own chapter surveys the new Ukrainian documentary film.
